The FIFA World Cup 2026 is not only about eternal glory, but also about the prestigious awards and honors presented after the tournament.

FIFA has clearly defined how the trophy must be handled, which official awards exist, and how players and teams are recognized and rewarded for their performances (Article 45 of the 2026 World Cup Regulations).

Discover all the official FIFA awards at the 2026 World Cup – from the World Cup Trophy and medals to the Golden Boot and Fair Play Award.

The Official FIFA World Cup Trophy

The winner of the 2026 World Cup receives the iconic FIFA World Cup Trophy immediately after the final whistle during the on-field ceremony.

The original trophy remains the permanent property of FIFA and is returned to officials in the dressing room before the winning team leaves the stadium.

Instead, the champions receive the FIFA World Cup Winner’s Trophy – a replica of the original that the team may keep temporarily.

The trophy is engraved with the name of the winning country, a task carried out exclusively by FIFA.

The champion team is responsible for the safety and preservation of the trophy while it remains in its possession.

At FIFA’s request, the trophy must be returned immediately, and the winning country must comply with the official FIFA Trophy Regulations.

    Medals, Certificates and Recognition

In addition to the World Cup Trophy, the top three teams of the tournament receive:

    • Gold medals for the world champions,
    • Silver medals for the runners-up,
    • Bronze medals for the third-place team.

The referees who officiate the final and the third-place match also receive an official medal in recognition of their contribution to the tournament.

FIFA also awards official diplomas to the top three teams and gives each participating association a commemorative plaque as a memento of their participation.

    Fair Play and Individual Awards

Throughout the tournament, a Fair Play ranking is compiled by the FIFA Technical Study Group. The nation that finishes first receives the FIFA Fair Play Award, presented in cooperation with McDonald’s.

In addition to the honor, the winning association receives funding for a football-related community project in its home country worth up to $50,000.

After the final, FIFA also presents the traditional individual awards:

    • Adidas Golden Boot: awarded to the tournament’s top scorer. In case of a tie, assists and then fewest minutes played are used as tiebreakers. The second and third receive the Silver Boot and Bronze Boot.
    • Adidas Golden Ball: awarded to the best overall player, chosen by FIFA’s technical experts. The second and third receive the Silver Ball and Bronze Ball.
    • Adidas Golden Glove: awarded to the best goalkeeper of the tournament.
    • FIFA Young Player Award: sponsored by Aramco, given to the best player under 21 years old (born on or after January 1, 2005).

All winners are selected by the FIFA Technical Study Group, a panel of football experts who analyze performances and statistics throughout the tournament.

No other official awards are presented unless FIFA decides otherwise at a later stage.
