Montreal dropped as a host city for the 2026 World Cup

The city of Montreal has indicated to FIFA that it will no longer be available as a host city. The Canadian Football Association has announced this decision, as a result of which Montreal will not be a host city for the 2026 World Cup.

FIFA would like to thank the city for all its efforts and participation in the bidding process. The world football organization works closely with the federations of Canada, America and Mexico to arrive at the best selection of host cities. There are many good candidates in the three countries.

The next steps in the selection process are to visit the cities in the period from September to November 2021. The process will be completed in the first half of 2022 .
