Guadalajara and Monterrey as host cities

Guadalajara and Monterrey have been selected by FIFA as the two Mexican host cities for the intercontinental play-offs ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026. From 23 to 31 March, both cities will welcome six national teams from five confederations competing for the final two qualification spots.

The Guadalajara Stadium, a modern venue opened in 2010 and known for its excellent facilities and vibrant atmosphere, is one of the two host stadiums. Home to C.D. Guadalajara, it has hosted numerous international matches and will stage four group-stage fixtures during the 2026 World Cup.

The Monterrey Stadium also plays a key role. This imposing football arena, nicknamed El Gigante de Acero, opened in 2015 and is considered an architectural landmark. Home to Rayados de Monterrey, it has demonstrated its ability to host major international events and will welcome three World Cup group matches and one round-of-32 game in 2026.
