Trump trying to influence the allocation of 2026 World Cup

President Donald Trump wants the United States, Canada and Mexico to jointly organize the 2026 World Cup. He announced via Twitter that the countries have submitted a strong offer to FIFA. He also speaks shame about countries that do not support that offer.

The American president is very active on Twitter and occasionally sends oversimplified messages to the world. This time too, he reacts very strongly towards countries and the United Nations that want to lobby against the joint offer. "Why should we support countries if they don't support us?"

Public vote on June 13, 2018

The allocation of the 2026 World Championship happens on Wednesday 13 June 2018, one day before the kick-off of the 2018 World Cup in Russia. The USA is not qualified for this tournament. Voting by FIFA members will be made public for the first time in history, so that rumors of bribery and corruption will not arise.

The only candidates for the organization of the football tournament are the United States, Canada and Mexico combined, and Morocco. Morocco will have to build or renovate 14 stadiums and construct 100 training fields.

The FIFA code of conduct states that governments may not interfere in the allocation of a World Football Championship.
