Infantino visits Mexico and discusses the 2026 World Cup

FIFA President Gianne Infantino spoke about the 2026 FIFA World Cup during his visit to Mexico. He met Andrés Manuel López, President of Mexico.

Preparations for the 2026 World Cup were underway top of the chairman's agenda during his meeting with the Mexican president and senior officials of the Mexican Football Federation (FMF).

Infantine also visited the Estadio Azteca, where the finals of 1970 and 1986 were played . The stadium is undergoing renovation for the upcoming event.

The North American country is the first country in history to host three World Cups. Furthermore, Mexico is the first that this is the first championship with no fewer than 48 participants.

Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterrey are the candidate host cities for the final tournament, which is organized together with Canada and the US.
